The scoop on what kids have on their Christmas wish list, according to Santa Claus himself
Who knows what children want for Christmas better than Santa Claus, the chief elf and authority in Christmas gift-giving?
This Christmas, Santa Claus will visit with guests of all ages at nearly 900 shopping center, hotel and mall destinations across North America in partnership with Cherry Hill Programs, the largest operator of holiday photography experiences in the U.S. Since November 1, Santa Claus has heard gift requests from hundreds of thousands of children during the generations-old holiday tradition: annual photos with Santa.
We sat down with Santa over milk and cookies to find out what kids are clamoring for this Christmas season—we were surprised by some of the popular requests he’s received!
Legos: “Legos are a perennial favorite. Some are anxious to build the Avengers Compound for their battle with Thanos. While others want to bring the magical and colorful world of Ragana’s Magic Shadow Castle to life. There are so many worlds for them to construct.”
PAW Patrol: “Not only do the little ones learn important lessons like kindness and bravery, they learn how to care for animals. PAW Patrol has a real-life partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The most frequent request I’ve received has been for the Ultimate Rescue Fire Truck, but they also have new toys coming in all the time!”
L.O.L Surprise! Dolls: “There’s nothing like the joy of unwrapping presents on Christmas morning and L.O.L (or Lil Outrageous Ones) bring hours of fun discovering what’s inside. I’ve been receiving requests for the L.O.L Surprise Bigger Surprise, which comes with over 60 surprises!”
Minecraft: “My elves are in overtime producing endless updatesand versions to meet my December 25th deadline. They’re also developing exciting new maps and skins to add. Kids of all ages have started asking for this virtual sandbox!”
American Girl Dolls: “American Girl dolls have been around since the 80s and they’re as popular as ever! This Christmas, it’s all about the 2019 Girl of the Year, American Girl Blaire Wilson. You can also create-your-own for a doll to match every girl’s personality.”
Toy trucks: “Some things never change! Kids always ask for trucks. They’re rarely picky about what kind, just as long as it’s a truck. The popularity of a truck is often directly correlated with how much noise it makes. Ho ho ho. With Green Toys, children can pick up a thing or two about being eco-friendly, even when I bring them the Flatbed Truck & Race Car set.”
Frozen 2 dolls: “With Frozen 2 in theaters just in time for Christmas, Elsa and Anna are back on thousands of wish lists this year. Children want the dual set of Elsa and Anna dolls. My elves can’t work fast enough to meet the demand!”
Tech is by far the most popular theme for teens, from AirPods and GoPro to the newest cameras and phones. “Teens are all about tech and innovation, and the elves are on track to keep up with requests from teens all across the globe,” Santa said.
Regardless of age, the perennial top “gift” requests again this year are happiness, health for family and friends, for their family to be together, and puppies. Santa added, “As the generations pass, it’s wonderful to hear these traditional favorites aren’t lost among the requests for toys and technology. I do the best I can with the puppy requests, but even after all the year my elves continue to struggle with this one. Ho Ho Ho”
